Anton "Tony" Halsey left this world to be with his Lord and Saviour on January 16, 2018 after a long illness.
He was born in Hammond, OR on February 6, 1937 to Eldred Jewell Halsey and Alta Gustafson Halsey. Tony served in the United States Army. He married Lynn Glover Halsey on April 6, 90 in The Dalles. Tony had a long career in the construction industry. He worked as a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers, building many of the bridges and highways around the northwest. He also worked dredging several shipping channels in Coos Bay, Gray's Harbor, Puget Sound, and the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. His carpentry skills were second to none; he could build a house and all the cabinets and furniture to
go inside as well. His strong love for the sea and all things nautical led him to build wooden sailboats for a time. He later owned and operated Halsey Construction Company in The Dalles.
He loved the outdoors: camping, fishing, hiking, boating, swimming, and skiing. He loved music, singing and playing the accordian. Tony is survived by his spouse Lynn Glover Halsey; children Heidi Herb (Gordon), Jewell Halsey, Anton Halsey II and Mary Halsey (Doug Klaumann); stepchildren Shannon McIlroy (Darin), Jeremy Stockett (Joy) and Jeffrey Stockett (Bethany); 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers.
17 Grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, 2 brothers
He will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery; a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at First Christian Church in The Dalles, Oregon at 11 a.m.
