After an extended illness, Velma Goodpaster passed away on January 24, 2018 at her daughter's home in Goldendale. She was 93 years old.
Velma was born December 23, 1924 to Charles Ross Weaver and Sadie Mae (Cagle) Weaver in Heavener, Oklahoma. Later, the family moved to Goldendale where she met and married Glen "Bud" Goodpaster in 1945. Out of this union, six children were born. A girl and a boy died in infancy.
In her younger days, Velma was an avid reader. She also loved to cook and work in her flower garden.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, two brothers, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Enderby and Michell (Micki) Lewellen of Goldendale; a son Mike Goodpaster of Washougal, WA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Also, a daughter-in-law, whom she loved like her own, Lenda Goodpaster.
A funeral service will be held at Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. May she rest in peace with God.
