Jessie Zelma Crone passed away at her home in White Salmon on April 8, 2018 at the age of 90. She was born in McClurg, Missouri on January 25, 1928 to Delpha Ann (Essary) and Lynn Prine. On March 15th 1945 she married Ralph J. Gates. From that marriage she bore 2 children Donna and John. In January 1965 the family moved from Missouri to White Salmon. She and Ralph divorced in 1967. On December 15, 1967 Jessie married Oscar Keith "Curly" Crone in Bingen. Jessie was a seamstress and retired from Jantzen. She finished her sewing career with Mountain Sewing in Snowden, WA. She also worked at J.C. Penney in Hood River, was a 4-H leader and a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Crone was a member of First Baptist Church in Bingen. She loved sewing, crafts and cooking. Jessie also liked gardening, fishing, hunting, mushroom and huckleberry picking. She is survived by her daughter Donna Zitur of White Salmon; son John W. Gates Sr. of White Salmon; brother Earl Pullam of Federal Way, WA; sisters Mary Spring of White Salmon and Stella Watts of Northwestern Lake; aunts Martha Bryan and Linda Johnson; stepchildren Sherrol Walker of The Dalles and Jerry Crone of Prineville, OR; 10 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild with another on the way. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother to all, never saw a baby she didn't want to hold and no one ever left her home hungry. Jessie was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Gates, second husband, Curly Crone, brothers Marvin and Adrian Prine, sisters Pearl Dunn and Maryland Balsiger, and her parents. A funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church on April 14 with burial at White Salmon Cemetery.
