Obituary of Gloria Swanson
Gloria May Swanson passed on to be with the Lord peacefully in her home October 11, 2017 in White Salmon, Washington. She was born in Scotia, California May 23, 1929 and we were blessed to have her for 88 years. Her maiden name was Gloria Petranoff. Her mother and father divorced when she was three years old and she then moved to Seattle with her mother. Her mother, Mattie Martinsen, married Melvin Martinsen and Gloria was brought up by her mother and stepfather in Seattle. She met her husband Roy Swanson while attending college in January 1950 and they got married August 30, 1950. Their marriage was blessed for 67 years. She lived in Seattle with their family until 1970. Gloria and her husband and family moved to Sequim, Washington in 1970 where she continued to be a devoted wife and mother and also kept books for the family construction business for 11 years. Gloria and her husband moved to White Salmon, Washington in 2003. Gloria is survived by her daughters Laura Swanson, Bellingham, Washington, Amy Curtis, Monroe, Washington and son Eric Swanson and daughter-in-law Ginger Swanson, White Salmon. She has two grandchildren Mike Morris and Gloriana Swanson and one great grandchildren Anya Morris. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church here in White Salmon and was active in Bible Studies with her many friends. Gloria was a devoted Christian and was noted for her pleasant outlook on life and was looking forward to spending eternity with Jesus. There was a graveside service here in White Salmon with immediate family on October 14, 2017 and there will be a "Celebration of Life" service at Grace Baptist Church in White Salmon on Saturday, November 4 at 11 a.m.
