Inez Mina Freeman, née Thompson, 82, of Goldendale, died peacefully in her home on June 30th, 2021. She was born May 21st, 1939 in Goldendale, Washington, the daughter of Ann and Dave Thompson. Inez grew up on her family farm formerly owned by her grandfather Everett Clay Thompson. She graduated from Goldendale High School, with Honors, in 1957, continuing her education at Washington State University where she also graduated with honors, and earned a Bachelors degree in English and a teaching certification in secondary education. Later in life, Inez went on to earn a Masters in Library Science from the University of Arizona. She spent the majority of her career working in library systems between New Mexico, California, and Washington, retiring as Regional Branch Manager for the mid-Columbia Library System. Inez was a passionate reader, genealogist, crossword enthusiast and historian. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and deeply enjoyed travel. Inez devoted much of her time and energy to the preservation of the history of Klickitat county, and contributed countless hours of volunteer work to the Presby Museum and Klickitat County Historical Society. Inez was married in Goldendale in 1961 to Army Officer Kenneth Scott Freeman, and had two children— Kristin and Kenneth. The family moved throughout the United States and spent several years in Germany. Inez returned to Goldendale after retirement. Inez was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Dr. Harvey Thompson, her son Kenneth Scott Freeman II, and infant daughter Deborah Ann Freeman. She is survived by her loving daughter Kristin Freeman, daughter-in-law Donna Kentley, and three granddaughters Emma and Grace Pitts and Olivia Kentley-Freeman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders, The Nature Conservancy, The Wilderness Society, or The Human Rights Watch. A Celebration of Life will take place on July 31st at 7pm at The Presby Museum.
