James “Jim” Walter, 72, passed away at his home with family present on September 17, 2021. He was born to Alfred and Marguerite “Peggy” (Hopper) Walter on March 26, 1949 in Hood River, Oregon. Jim served honorably in the United States Army. He married Dorothy Koncel in Odell, Oregon on September 13, 1970. Mr. Walter worked as the school maintenance engineer for Goldendale Middle School for 29 years and was a member of the River of Life Church in Goldendale. He was active in the miniature horse club and the Goldendale Photography Club. He loved fishing, hunting, wood turning, raising sheep and miniature horses, showing miniature horses and combine driving, participating in the Klickitat County Fair. Mr. Walter will be missed by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy of Goldendale; sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Kortnie Walter of Milton-Freewater, Oregon, Brandon and Amanda Walter of Goldendale; son Edwin Walter of Goldendale; brother and sister-in-law David and Irene Walter of Ashland, Wisconsin; grandchildren BJ, Makayla, Alicia, Alex, Chelsey, Dustin, Kyle and Mitchell; and great grandchildren Kinzley and Tamsyn. A celebration of life will be held at noon on October 30, 2021 at River of Life Church in Goldendale. A potluck will follow the service.
