Obituary of Andrea Mae Null
Please share a memory of Andrea to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Andrea “Annie” Mae Null (Tan) was born on August 16, 1958 in Singapore to Anna Chan and Albert Tan. She was the oldest of five surviving children, along with Arlene, Andreabelle, Michael, and Adelene.
Annie had an international education. She went to kindergarten in Singapore. Primary and early secondary education (the equivalent of Grades 1 through 10) was in Malaysia, and finished high school in Hong Kong. She went back to Singapore for a few years, working for the Voice of Prophecy and former leader of the Singapore Democratic Party before leaving for Oregon in 1980.
In Hillsboro Oregon, she met a tall young man while playing volleyball. The friendship blossomed into love. On June 4,1986, Andrea became Mrs Robert Null, a last name she was proud of and cherished having because she loved Robert so much!
Andrea, or “Annie”, was well known for her kindness to all whom she met. She could and would befriend almost everyone she met. Annie loved people and animals and found joy in that love. She loved her dogs, Ezekiel “Zeke” and Solomon “Solly” and her cats, Pippen and later Alexander. Annie loved animals and they, in turn, gravitated to her!
She loved gardening, growing the most amazing garden produce under the most adverse conditions. She would turn those produce into delicious and nutritious meals which she often shared. Yes, she was also very talented in cooking and baking! She enjoyed cooking for potlucks and gatherings, and having others enjoy her baking. She would make the most wonderful pecan tarts, pies, and other baked goods.
Annie loved sharing the beautiful sights of the Pacific Northwest with her family and friends. She would bring them around to visit those beautiful places, giving them the gift of beautiful memories!
Annie was also very filial. She would faithfully keep in touch with her mother Anna weekly, and the rest of the family regularly, encouraging them all to be faithful to God. Annie also loved her nieces and nephews, asking about them every time she talked to her siblings.
She loved God and kept His commandments faithfully. She knew God and loved God. She believed in prayer and cherished her time with the Bible.
Annie fell asleep to Christ Jesus on Sunday, February 26, 2023. She is survived by her husband, Robert E Null, mother Anna Chan, sisters Arlene (Thiam Chye), Andreabelle (Steven), Adelene “Mae” (Beng Guan), brother Michael (Rita), nieces (in-law) Doca, Crystal-Anne “Margaux”, Dominique, Nikko, nephews Nathaniel Benedict, Jeremy, Benjamin, Kei, and great-nieces McKayla and Kari.
Annie was preceded in death by her father, Albert Tan, grandmother Tsui Ah Hoi, and brother Andrew Tan.
Love,
Michael
