Obituary of Mark Hodges

Mark Lowell Hodges was born October 2, 1957 in North Bend, Oregon to Joe Ben Hodges and Karen Lou Larson Hodges.  He grew up in Kennewick, Washington and graduated from Kamiakin High School in 1978.  In December 1978 he left for a 2-year mission to Argentina for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  In February 1980 he married Pamela Martin and they had a daughter, Tamara Sue in 1981.  The marriage ended and later he married Christine Kenoyer.  From that marriage he had 2 sons, Steven and Benjamin.  Later, he married Jesse Grow, which marriage also ended in divorce.

Mark was a man of many talents and interests.  He graduated from Columbia Basin College in Pasco in 1988, as a welder.  He and his mother walked together for their graduation from CBC.  He worked as a pipe fitter, a taxi driver, a process server, in construction and other occupations.  Most recently he worked as a cook in a cannery in Alaska.

He is survived by his parents, Joe Ben Hodges and Karen Lou Kempt; by his sisters, Linda Jo Fluharty, Yvonne (Fawn) Calvario, and Naomi Hunt; by his daughter and sons; by a half-sister, Sarah Fleming, 3 stepbrothers, Michael Curtis, Christopher Curtis and Michael Kempt, and stepsisters, Debbie Migues and Debbie Arvaneh.

On May 5, 2018 he was on his motorcycle going toward Yakima, when he was hit by a car near Box Canyon Road on Highway 97.  He died the following morning at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 12 at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Goldendale with interment at Spring Creek Cemetery.
