Obituary of Neil Oliver

Neil Albert Oliver, 64, of Carson, Washington, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at home, from complications due to Lewy Body Dementia. A private graveside service was held at Wind River Memorial Cemetery in Carson on May 4. A Catholic funeral mass and celebration of life will be held, date to be determined. Neil was born in Portland, Oregon to Anthony (Tony) and Elizabeth (Bette) Oliver on January 17, 1956. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1974. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University. He worked as a Civil Engineer for the U. S. Forest Service for 31 1/2 years, retiring in 2011. He was proud to be a part of the 1976 “Bike”Centennial Celebration, riding a bicycle coast-to-coast from Oregon to Virginia. Neil married Darice Magnuson on May 12, 1984 in Corvallis Oregon, and they moved to Carson in 1990. He was an active member of the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Neil is survived by his wife Darice, of Carson, son Nathan of Hudson, Wisconsin and daughter Michelle of Shaker Heights, Ohio, siblings Elaine (Pat) Keavney of Oregon City, Oregon, Ron (Nita) Oliver and Gordon (Pat) Oliver, of Portland, Oregon, Dave (Nancy) Oliver, of Boise, Idaho, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Tony and Bette and his infant brother Stephen Oliver. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Stevenson, WA, or to Inspiring Hospice Foundation (Heart of Hospice - Hood River, OR).
